TRON energy for DeFi, DEX and NFT projects
Projects built on TRON contracts spend energy on contract calls too, not only on USDT transfers. This page counts the USDT transfers around them: funding, treasury moves and payouts.
- 1
The project moves USDT
A treasury funds a liquidity position, pays a partner or collects revenue, with a transfer of USDT.
- 2
Energy covers that transfer
A plain USDT transfer from the project's wallet uses the standard 65,000 Energy when the recipient holds USDT, 131,000 when it does not.
- 3
Contract calls are separate
A swap, a mint or a staking call has its own energy cost set by the contract, and it varies. It is not what this number covers.
Size an order for your own contract call
Energy needed
360,000
Energy to order
360,000
Rented
10.61 TRX
Burned
36.00 TRX
The starting figure is only a placeholder. Energy for a contract call depends on the contract and its state, so measure it, for example with the network's estimate, before relying on this. An order cannot be smaller than the minimum.
Where energy is spent
- Treasury movement
- Moving a project's own USDT between wallets and to counterparties is a series of ordinary transfers.
- Payouts and rewards in USDT
- Paying contributors, partners or rewards in USDT is the same pattern as any payout.
- Contract calls
- Calls into your own contracts need energy too. You can order energy for the calling address, but the amount for those depends on the contract.
What helps here
- REST API
- Pay by invoice
- Auto-refill
What this does not cover
Energy for a contract call is not 65,000. Test the call and use the estimate the network gives, then size the order to that. We rent energy; the amount a given call needs is for you to find.
Questions
Is the 65,000 figure valid for a swap?
No. It is the cost of a USDT transfer. A swap or other contract call uses a different, contract-specific amount.
Can I order energy by the unit?
Yes. An order is for a number of Energy units, within the minimum and maximum for one order, so you can size it to a contract call you have measured.
