GasFree on TRON
Send USDT on TRON without TRX
GasFree lets you send USDT with no TRX in the wallet. It is not free: a provider pays the network fee and takes it back in USDT out of your transfer. Check what it would cost you, and when renting energy is the better deal.
Where your money goes
- Recipient gets
- 98.50 USDT
- Provider (the fee)
- 1.50 USDT
- TRX taken from you
- 0 TRX
The fee is 1.5% of the transfer. Example at a fee of 1.50 USDT; your wallet shows the real one.
How GasFree works
Three steps, and none of them asks for your private key.
Pick a step to see where it happens.
The main trap
Two addresses, and only one holds the right USDT
Most things go wrong because the USDT sits on the wrong address. The table shows what each address can and cannot do.
Your GasFree address is a different string from your regular TRON address. USDT you want to send without TRX must be on the GasFree address. USDT on the regular address still needs energy or TRX to send.
What you get and what you give up
You get
- No TRX needed to send USDT
- No energy to rent or plan ahead
- A quick way out of a one-off transfer, in a wallet that supports it
You give up
- A fee in USDT on every transfer, so the recipient gets less
- A separate GasFree address that is easy to mix up with your own
- Transfers only: no swaps, no contract calls
- Not every wallet or exchange supports it
What will it cost you?
Type the amount and the fee your wallet shows. You will see what arrives and how it compares with rented energy.
1.50 is an example, not a tariff. Replace it with the number on the confirmation screen.
Recipient receives
98.50 USDT
The fee is small next to the amount. GasFree is reasonable here.
- GasFree fee, this transfer
- 1.50 USDT
- Same transfer, energy rented
- ~2.34 TRX (~$0.77)
- Same transfer, TRX burned
- ~6.85 TRX (~$2.26)
At this fee GasFree costs more than renting energy. You pay for not needing TRX. TRX is converted at an indicative $0.33, USDT at $1.
How much of the transfer the fee takes
The smaller the amount, the bigger the share. Green is under 3%, red is over 10%. Amounts in USDT.
GasFree or rented energy
Rented energy goes to your regular address. You send as usual, the full amount arrives, and the same energy covers contracts too.
GasFree
- Best for one transfer with no TRX
- Fee in USDT, taken from the amount
- Needs a separate address and a supporting wallet
Rented energy
- Your regular address, any wallet
- The full amount arrives
- Cheaper from about five transfers a month
- Works for contracts and DeFi
Not sure? Four questions
Answer all four and the verdict appears here.
Check yourself before you send
Tick what is done. When all four are ticked, you can send.
Renting energy takes three steps
For when GasFree does not fit. You need only a public address, never a key.
- 1
Enter your TRON address
The one you send USDT from.
- 2
Choose how many transfers
Energy for one transfer or for several.
- 3
Pay and send as usual
The energy arrives within seconds. Send your USDT the normal way.
Questions
Is GasFree really free?
No. The network fee is still paid, but by the provider, who takes it back in USDT from your transfer. The recipient gets the amount minus that fee.
Do I need TRX at all?
Not to send USDT through GasFree. For anything from your regular address, such as swaps or contract calls, you need TRX or rented energy.
Does Trust Wallet support GasFree?
As of October 2026 Trust Wallet does not declare GasFree support. That does not mean it cannot work, so check its release notes. Rented energy works from Trust Wallet either way.
Which is cheaper?
For one transfer with no TRX, GasFree is the simplest. From about five transfers a month from a regular address, rented energy costs less.
Pick the cheaper way for your transfer
One transfer and no TRX: GasFree. Regular transfers, a wallet without GasFree or a contract: rent energy for exactly the transfers you need.
