Custodians and wallet providers
TRON energy for custodians and wallet providers
A custodian sends USDT on behalf of customers who do not want to think about TRX. Someone still pays the network, and if it is not the service, it is the customer, out of their USDT.
- 1
A customer sends USDT
The customer asks the service to send USDT to an address. They have no TRX and do not want to buy any.
- 2
The service covers the energy
The sending wallet needs energy for the transfer. The service can rent it, so the customer does not need TRX.
- 3
The customer sees a plain transfer
The recipient gets the USDT. What the customer is charged for it, if anything, is the service's decision.
A customer with 100 USDT and no TRX presses Send
What the customer sees: The transfer goes through. No TRX needed.
Who pays
the service
Per transfer
2.08 TRX
A month, for the service
6,240.00 TRX
Recipient assumed to hold USDT. Whether to pass any of this cost on to customers is the service's decision.
Where energy is spent
- No TRX for the customer
- A customer's balance is in USDT. Energy rented by the service replaces the TRX they would otherwise need for the fee.
- Many wallets, one policy
- Each custody wallet that sends needs energy. A refill rule keeps each one topped up automatically.
- Predictable cost
- Burning TRX makes the cost per transfer swing with the price of TRX. Rented energy is priced in TRX per order.
What helps here
- REST API
- Webhooks
- Tron Pulse
- Auto-refill
What this does not cover
A custodian chooses its own fee policy. Nothing here says what to charge customers, only what the network side costs.
Questions
Can customers send USDT with no TRX at all?
Yes, if the service delivers energy to the sending wallet and the address is activated. The customer only needs USDT.
Is this the same as GasFree?
No. GasFree is a separate mechanism where a provider pays and takes its fee in USDT from the transfer. Renting energy is delegated to your own wallet, and the transfer then uses it.
